So, Thanksgiving is almost here. And youre simply figuring out now you have no idea what youre doing? Fear not. If search is any indication, youre far from alone. Frantic cooks are looking up last-minute help with ‘thanksgiving recipes,’ ‘turkey cooking tips,’ and ‘thanksgiving desserts.’.

First off, the turkey. While you could go old-fashioned with an oven-cooked meal, one-day searches have soared on the crispy kind: A lot of you may well find a deep-fried fowl on their Thanksgiving table. Queries on the delightful sounding ‘cajun deep fried turkey recipes’ skyrocketed over 1,000%. ‘Turkey brine’ is also popular, as is ‘roasted turkey recipe.’ But hey, even searches on ‘tofurkey,’ the ‘bird’ carved from soybeans, are big right now. PETA would be proud..

‘There are a few instances in the county each year where there have been fires or serious injuries as a direct result of nation using turkey fryers,’ Cox said. ‘I wouldnt call it a big problem within the county, however the incidents that results from these tend to be very serious. These are fires that reason significant damage and very serious injuries.’. .

State program offers cheaplow-cost car insurance

Save on Car Insurance

But there are some steps you can take to help bring down the cost.

For example, a 27-year-old single male driving a 2005 Honda Civic Sedan would pay 326 for a six-month premium, including comprehensive and collision coverage with a 500 deductible and property liability of up to 15,000, according to a quote from Farmers Insurance.

But the premium for the same policy would jump to 803 if he was driving a 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.Insurance rates are based on the price of the car, how often that model is stolen and its safety record, says Jeanne Salvatore, senior vice president at the Insurance Information Institute.

High unemployment in the central San Joaquin Valley is driving fear that more motorists are going without auto insurance because they cant afford it.

The most recent estimates from 2007 suggest that 18% of Californians did not have automobile insurance, said Darrell Ng, associate deputy commissioner for the state Department of Insurance. That was more than in any year since 1997, according to department estimates.
New Jersey Car Insurance
For a family of four, its 55,125 per year.

Such coverage carried an annual premium ranging between 632 and 2,200 for a married couple in 2007, according to a Department of Insurance survey of insurance companies.

But for qualifying low-income families, the low-cost insurance program — offered at 258 per year in Fresno County — satisfies the states financial-responsibility law by providing 10,000 of coverage per person or 20,000 per accident for bodily injury and 3,000 for property damage liability.

The basic insurance is catching on with motorists. In the first 10 months of 2009, the number of drivers enrolled in Fresno County has more than doubled, from 311 to 707. Similar growth is reported in other Valley counties. But officials say they believe there are thousands of drivers in the Valley who qualify but likely dont know about it.

Ronnie Brown injury is a blow

Miami Dolphins – Ronnie Brown injury

The Dolphins season nearly came to an end earlier today.

It won’t be long the way things looked during a 25-23 win against the Tampa Bay Bucs.

Running back Ronnie Brown’s ankle tops the list because who’s going to replace him?

He was out because of a coach’s decision, but Charlie Anderson and Cam Wake stepped in and combined for two sacks.

On the second one, Henne threw Bess open while the defender’s back was turned, a quality coach Tony Sparano praised in Drew Brees a few weeks back.

Tampa Bay’s TD makes 96 points scored against Miami in the fourth quarter, second-worst in the NFL to Buffalo (101, including 24 Sunday).

But Ricky and Ronnie had established a nice balance. After all, this was Williams’ first 20-carry day since the final game of the 2005 season. Can he keep it up the pace without Brown in the mix and Pat Cobbs out for the season with a knee injury?

1. Running back Lex Hilliard is likely to get his chance this week. But with no carries this season, will Hilliard be ready?

It might be different if Ronnie Brown were to have a full week to bounce back from the ankle injury he suffered Sunday, but with only three days to prepare for Thursday night’s game at Carolina, it’s a safe bet Hilliard will get his first carries as a running back against the Panthers.

Miami will need a strong running game against Carolina, whose own running game entered this week’s games leading the NFC in rushing. Just as Brown and Ricky Williams were a great 1-2 punch, Hilliard and Williams make for a tandem that could pound away at a Carolina run defense, which was ranked 23rd entering the weekend.

2. Linebacker Charlie Anderson made a bigger impact than Joey Porter has all season. But Anderson’s inconsistency, not his talent, has held him back.

{Anderson stepped in for Porter and had one of his best games in two seasons as a Dolphin, with five solo tackles, including a sack, and two forced fumbles.

Anderson, a sixth-year pro, showed big-time flashes a few times a season ago, highlighted by his performance in Toronto against Buffalo (four solos, a sack, two FFs). He followed it with nice outing against San Francisco, including a key sack late in the game.

Anderson has the size (6-4, 250) and speed few, if any, Dolphins can match off the edge. But he disappears too often and makes mental errors.

3. Kicker Dan Carpenter answered the challenge of training camp nemesis Connor Barth.

Barth did his job, and the team released him.

The Dolphins’ braintrust must have wondered Sunday, when Barth set a franchise record with three field goals of 50 yards or longer. His leg kept the Bucs within striking range until the offense finally woke up and nearly pulled off the upset.

The Great American Smokeout Day

The Great American Smokeout day is today and a spokesperson for the Iowa Chapter of the American Cancer Society is question smokers to take a other approach to the of a year event. A-C-S spokesman Chuck Reed says they’re encouraging smokers to use the day as a starting point to the end.

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) November 19, 2009 — For many people, the Great American Smokeout day means a new beginning but West Virginian Joe Balog sees it as a excellent ending. To Joe, each November is a milestone anniversary. This year hes celebrating two years of smoke free living. In November 2007, Joe turned to Dan Vitchoff, Board Certified Hypnotherapist and President of PA Hypnosis Center in Pittsburgh, in what felt like a last straw to try to forsake smoking forever.

Great Falls High School student Sara Stewart often hears from her peers that they believe they are immune to the results of smoking.

‘I know that a lot of teenagers dont think smoke will affect them,’ Stewart said.

That was the thought behind her anti-smoking poster, which shows a woman with her left side is youthful, while her right side is old, gray and wrinkled.

Should Americans be concerned for the expand in cigarette smoking? Yes. Smoking wreckers nearly every organ in the human body and is linked to at least 15 different kind of cancers. While, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, smoking rates have stayed for alike for the past five years, anything short of a decline is surely troubling. wiki

Dave – Charlie, each to his own

Oh, how the tables have turned.

After failed stints as an NFL head coach with the Bears and Dolphins, he had nowhere else to go.

the NFL offensive mastermind returning to coach his alma mater.

Weis Fighting Irish won that game easily, but they were also much more talented.

Wannstedt has improved his team, slowly but steadily, over the past five seasons.

But then something strange happened: Pitt pulled it together and eked out a victory.. What do Florida Fans think about that.

Wannstedt and Weis are moving in different directions, like two ships passing in the night..
Good luck to them both.

What we learned
1. Dave Wannstedts teams are now capable of winning close games.
2. Rutgers has improved mightily since the beginning of the season.
3. Syracuse has not improved and is still the worst team in the Big East.

Another push for SunRail

If commuter rail offers the promise of new economic opportunity and transportation innovation, then Florida legislative leaders need not further delay. It is time to stop the political stall tactics, Sands said. The last thing that out-of-work Floridians want to hear today is nay-saying and excuses from Tallahassee.

When the House last voted on SunRail in 2008, Minority Leader Sands was one of 39 House members left at the station voting against Central Florida Commuter Rail.

While Dockery, a Republican, has been the most vocal opponent of SunRail, it has been Republican Senate President Jeff Atwater and Republican Sen. JD Alexander of Lake Wales, the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, who have emerged this autumn as the most vocal backers of the idea, which has been pushed hard for several years by another Senate Republican, Sen. Lee Constantine of Altamonte Springs.

He was speaking to the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization directors meeting Thursday at its monthly gathering. Is Florida is moving forward someone said.

Here’s an interesting picture that takes us back a while. Sometimes it’s difficult to see the long-term impact in transportation planning, but here’s a picture from 1890 that is a transportation project in Central Florida. Sometimes it’s hard to see the long-term impact in transportation planning. As in life, what was once in style often comes back. Isnt it all about choices

Talks that a special session will happen by December to determine SunRail’s future became louder this week, when Central Florida leaders gathered in Orlando Wednesday for a meeting with U.S. Sen. George LeMieux to discuss the 1.2 billion project’s chances of gaining enough approval to become a reality.

Florida future is important.

LeMieux said for the state to receive federal funding, it had to show it was willing to pass SunRail in Tallahassee.

NASA readies space shuttle Atlantis for launch

‘Were right on the money,’ added Mike Leinbach, space shuttle launch director. ‘Were not tracking any issues with the vehicle, flight elements or ground systems. Im happy to report were ready to go.’

NASAs space shuttle ‘Atlantis’ stands on Pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida on November 15, 2009. Who doesnt want to be in Florida To see this.

The 11-day space outing, to be the fifth and last shuttle mission for 2009, is set to include three spacewalks aimed at storing space hardware on the exterior of the ISS. Does anybody know how many shuttles have been launched from Florida

he rocket is Ares I-X – a suborbital prototype for the Ares I rocket NASA plans to use to launch its shuttle successor, the Orion spacecraft. Currently the worlds tallest booster, the Ares I-X rolled out to the launch pad early Tuesday and is slated to blast off Oct. 27 at 8 a.m. EDT (1200 GMT) on a short demonstration flight.

The 445 million rockets rollout comes on the eve of a final report from an independent committee appointed by the White House to review NASAs plans for future human spaceflight.. Here is something new I learned about Florida

The Ares I-X is not a full Ares I rocket. Its first stage is a four-segment solid rocket booster – repurposed from the shuttle fleets inventory – capped with a dummy fifth segment. The thicker second stage, Orion crew capsule and launch abort system are also all mock-ups built to simulate the size and mass of the real thing.
